Students will become comfortable with speaking and using conversational Spanish, including greetings, answering and asking questions, and the beginnings of an every day vocabulary. Students will have an opportunity to learn and practice basic Spanish conversational vocabulary in this immersion-based course, through scripts, conversation, and music.
While designed for a complete beginner, adaptations can be made on request to include intermediate students who are ready for more vocabulary or advanced verb structures, or students of any level who do not feel comfortable conversing yet. The emphasis is on fun, laughter, engagement, and comfort along with solid vocabulary skills and a beginning sense of grammar.
Jackie Harris-Stone spent 7 years living in Mexico, where she worked and taught in Spanish. She has served as professor in the Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey and the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León, translator and voice-over artist for the bilingual video series EduSpark, and ESL teacher. She currently is artistic director, scriptwriter and performer for a partially bilingual music and drama series with Toot and Slider’s Musical Tales, as well as being a performer, private music teacher, and parent.
